Benjamin Elkon

Benjamin Elkon

My name is Benjamin Elkon, and I'm a student at the University of Colorado. I am currently a junior, and hope to graduate next year with an undergrad degree in biology. If all goes well, I will eventually go to medical school, which brings us right to the reason I contacted Scott and Carol. Working with Scott and Carol, seeing the passion that they display for humanity in their continuous effort to better the lives of others, was one of the most influential experiences of my life. It was during my stay that I committed myself to studying medicine. I now find myself drawn towards fields like tropical disease and immunology, which of course I encountered while in Uganda. The rewards of working with those less fortunate than ourselves are indeed great. On my desk sits a photograph of a smiling young girl from Kitariro. Thanks to the work of Scott and Carol and people like them, the lives of children like her are improving. Children are appreciated and cared for unconditionally, and that is the greatest service that any person can do for another.
